A friend of mine just bought me a spider plant for my birthday. How do I know if it's the type of plant that needs to have a drain hole in the bottom of the pot?

What would be better a ceramic pot or a plastic one? Any information you have would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jackie,

Thanks for your question. We generally recommend having a drain hole in your pot if it's not ceramic to prevent root rot.

See our blog for a more detailed explanation about this specific question: How to Choose the Right Pot

Good luck with your new birthday present!
